Give Back & Get Down LogoEvery year, Viacom’s Employee Affinity Groups team up to fight hunger in New York City. In 2012, the groups — AMP, The BEAT, Emerge, The ParentHood, Somos and Thursday Think — joined forces to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, asking employees to donate canned goods and other desperately needed items for distribution by local service organizations. At the Give Back & Get Down event on November 15, Viacommunity members donated 20,000 pounds of food to City Harvest; 19 extra-large boxes of blankets, flashlights and candles to the Red Hook Initiative; and 16 extra-large boxes of socks, gloves, hats and scarves to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. We encouraged giving by the public by sharing the event on social media sites and on our Times Square screen.
